Billy and Sheila Williams

Billy Williams and his wife, Sheila, traveled the world during Billy's 22 years in the U.S. Army, but when he retired in 1997, they wanted to settle down in Tacoma, Wash., where Sheila grew up. They also wanted their own business.

"It was always my dream to have my own store," said Billy, who was a part-time moonlighter at 7-Eleven during his Army career. In July 1997, he rejoined the company as a management trainee, and less than a year later, he franchised his own 7-Eleven store through a special franchising program for 7-Eleven, Inc. employees.
